End Date: 10/12/2017End Time: 6:00 PM
Event Description
Artist Metra Mitchell will show her work at STLCC-Wildwood, Oct. 9 - Nov. 17. A meet-the-artist reception is planned for Oct. 12 from 4-6 p.m.

About the Exhibit:
Each piece in this exhibit is carefully crafted to evoke emotion from the audience. To accomplish this, the artist explores the intimate conflict between content and form and their relationship to a dozen chosen archetypes, which are each represented by a different color.

“Emotionality is contained within the intimate conflict between content and form. Within the scenes of emotionality, the bodies and their gestures are arranged and rearranged in an attempt to reveal patterns of behavior. I refer to this process as visual surgery. This can be described in three stages: confrontation, negotiation and collaboration. This process stimulates a cathartic experience where broader harmonies and complications are analyzed within the painted psychodramas. These assemblages become a collection of mediated bodies making explicit the framing of identity.”- Metra Mitchell
